Why addresses are printed in full

Most pages shorten a long address into a tidy chip with a copy button. That is convenient, and it is also where a clone slips in, because a truncated string hides the middle characters that are the whole point of the check. Printing the full 56-character string forces the comparison to be real.

You can select the whole line and compare it to another source without guessing what the hidden part says. The cost is a little more screen space. The benefit is that a wrong address is visible to the eye, not buried in a widget you have to trust. For a page whose only job is to keep you from walking into a copy, that trade is worth it.

The copy button is still there for convenience. But the text underneath it is the version you should actually read.
